The traditional handover ceremony of the Sanremo Rotary Club took place yesterday evening in the splendid setting of the Tee & Shot Restaurant at the Golf Club degli Ulivi, attended by numerous guests, members, family and friends.

Rotary Sanremo: the outgoing President Claudio Lacagnina has passed the collar, adorned with the names of all his predecessors, to Ettore Guazzoni

During the evening, two Paul Harrises were awarded, the highest honor of the Rotary Foundation, for members who have particularly distinguished themselves in service activities and an award for “pure friendship” for the attitude that a member has towards others and which makes him recognized as a Friend of all.

For Guazzoni, this is the second term after the 2019-2020 year interrupted by the COVID19 emergency.

Outgoing President Claudio Lacagnina highlights “It has been an intense year, we have done what was considered a priority and in tune with the current historical moment. The commitment made to activities in support of peace has been constant and very engaging, but so have been the others aimed at supporting the local community.

Thanks to the members, the institutions, and the interaction with other Rotary Clubs, we have tried to give even more impact to the services.

Now I leave the baton, with the conviction that the new president will give continuity and progression to the initiatives that will be promoted by our Rotary Club Sanremo”

These are Ettore Guazzoni’s intentions: “After suddenly interrupting my first mandate due to the pandemic, I welcomed with extreme pleasure the appointment as President for the year 2024-2025. I will certainly resume some projects that I proposed in the year of the pandemic and unfortunately never completed.

I will pay particular attention to social activities, for children, young people and medical prevention. This with the launch of important local and foreign projects alongside other Clubs, in the spirit of Rotary International. Continuity will be given to the theme of Peace and to the collaboration with the Institute of Humanitarian Law and with the schools of Sanremo. I hope that through me the Rotary Club of Sanremo will continue, as it has been for more than 90 years, to be an active part in projects of service to the territory and wherever there is a need for an intervention”.
