The dates of July 10th in Crespino del Lamone (FI), July 17th in Pavaglione di Lugo (RA) and July 19th in Paestum (SA) they are special events that fall within the scope of the initiative Ask who the Inti Illimani are: the protagonists will be the acoustic sounds and traditional instruments of the Chilean group that meet the sounds and words of Giulio Wilson. Concerts intended as moments of sharing, also to raise public awareness of issues dear to the artists through the wonderful songs of the album of unreleased AGUA by Giulio Wilson & Inti-Illimani, a record welcomed and applauded by the public and critics, containing thirteen tracks in Italian and in Spanish.
An artistic project made between Florence in a pre-recording compositional phase and recorded in Santiago de Chile; an unpublished artistic proposalcoordinated by the record producer Paul Maiorinoof two worlds that are only apparently distant and different from each other, where the traditional and rich sounds of Andean music embrace the sounds and words of alternative Italian songwriting, so much so as to combine a new style – certainly unprecedented in terms of music and content – for the Chilean group, among the best known in the world.
Inti-Illimani and Giulio Wilson meet, find each other and sing, in fact, the problems of current events (from shocking climate changes to the recovery of human values) without nostalgic tones but of hope, to find and choose different paths for the good of the world: ways and forms of solidarity for social progress and environmental protection, to recover the measure of things.
With the artistic production of Caesar Jug e Valter Sacripanti – lThe music of the Inti, always an expression of the community and a vehicle for committed messages, becomes sustainable together with Wilson, at the service of environmental protection and interpersonal relationships; e the social commitment of the Chilean group’s past is not lacking (as noted in the song Revolt) but in a broader context and linked to the dimension of man with respect for his time and the society that surrounds him. Their art aims to contribute to the development and diffusion of an environmental awareness in a broad sense, speaking to all generations.
AGUA is an album of pure “artisan conception”with the typical instruments of Andean music to add color – such as the bagpipe, the Quechua, the Bolivian charango of Inti-Illimani, the bombo, the Venezuelan cuatro, the Cuban tres – and with the guitar and piano of Giulio Wilson; no electronic sounds, plug-ins, or computer effects are contemplated.
They collaborated on the project Davide Pieralisi (acoustic, classical, electric guitars and ukulele in the songs It’s worth it, Agua, Occhi/Ojos); Juan Flores (Box in Wetlands and in My other self); Mauricio Campos (three Cuban in Are); Magdalena Pacheco (Bodhran and tambourine in Revolt); Cristian Pratofiorito (piano up Eyes/Ojos); Roberto Bassi (piano on Chile is a path); Valter Sacripanti (drums and shaker on Sustainableshaker and additional bombo and tom on To want, Agua, It’s worth it, Eyes e My other self);
