Via Vittorio Veneto, reopening from Monday – BarlettaLive.it

“Dear citizens, I inform you that on Monday 1 July Via Vittorio Veneto (from Via Marconi to Via Zanardelli) will be reopened to traffic.
This is a new and modern Via Vittorio Veneto, which has two lanes widened compared to the past, with wider sidewalks, safe to drive on, adequately lit, with a lifeguard island in front of the Bari Nord station, with a series of optical speed bumps, with well-organized road signs, with a complete reconstruction of the sewer system, and with the tree heritage restored thanks to the planting of beautiful Lagerstroemia trees.
At the same time, the connection between Viale Marconi and Via Vittorio Veneto will be reopened to pedestrians through the equipped pedestrian axis (Urban Redevelopment Plan of the Ex Distillery of 1996), illuminated, fenced and with surveillance cameras, which will cross the entire ex distillery (the aforementioned connection will subsequently be subject to regulation of any opening and closing for safety reasons).
Also from next Monday, pedestrian passage will be allowed through the underpass of the Ferrovie dello Stato – Ferrotramviaria Bari Nord station. In fact, the pedestrian connection between Via Marconi and Piazza Conteduca will be restored. That little door, which was illegal and used so often by pedestrians to go from the Borgovilla – Patalini district to the center and vice versa, no longer exists.
The underpass will also be accessible when the construction site is active for the construction of the elevators on the fifth track as per the Ferrotramviaria-Comune_Ferrovie dello Stato agreement.

Once the elevators have been built, the ramp for people with reduced mobility will also be opened (April 2025), so that access to the tunnel will temporarily be guaranteed only by stairs.
On Monday, a practically new, modern and certainly safer street than in the past will be delivered to citizens.
I thank you for your patience with the inconvenience you have had to endure. This Administration has reached another important milestone with you regarding the livability and quality of life of our city.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to Ferrotranviaria and the technicians of the municipal offices for the work carried out.
I also inform you that in continuity with this intervention, in agreement with RFI it has been decided to open the Via Veneto – Via Andria – Via Callano underpass on 9 August as per the communicated timetable”.
