After climbing on theEtna starting from Arcore, having done the Camino de Santiagoalways strictly on the saddle of one’s own bicycle, and reached North Cape, This year Brambilla succeeded in one of his most touching feats: reaching the 2017 World Cup in time Calabria, after leaving from PalaUnimec, to attend the national finals of his girls’ volleyball team. Like a torchbearer, guardian of the jersey signed by the athletes, the sixty-three-year-old has travelled almost 1300 km crossing the boot and telling his adventure step by step: the hope, the effort, the fear of not arriving on time, and the joy of having completed his undertaking. “From PalaUnimec, home of Casati, the shirt signed by all the under 16 athletes leaves. Destination Calabria: PGS national finals”, this was how Brambilla announced the start of a new venture via his social media on 9 June 2024, the date of departure. Ten days of travelten stages from north to south, then led the pensioner (who took up cycling only 4 years ago, after finishing his professional career), to reach the girls’ volleyball team in time, engaged in tournaments from 19 to 23 June.

“Our President Daniele Brambilla has orchestrated another one of his – said Casati Volley – on the occasion of the PGS16 National Finals in Calabria he faced the descent of the boot by bicycle to reach and share the emotions of this event with the girls. He left on Monday 9 June and day after day he traveled along the coast until he arrived in Soverato, welcomed by the same girls who had signed and entrusted the Casati race shirt to him at the start. A love, a passion and even a bit of healthy recklessness for challenges and sport, combined with a lot of willpower, dedication and the right preparation have made it possible to add this goal to the many achieved in the past years. But this time it has a further emotional and sporting value, a symbol of determination and attachment to the athletes of the Casati world. Thanks Dani, always an example for us.”
At the end of the five days of competition, Brambilla’s efforts were amply rewarded by his girls, who became national under 16 champions.
