Basilicata Region: Notice published for the reception of non-EU workers

The Basilicata Region has published the public notice aimed at “identifying third sector subjects available for the co-planning and management of interventions for the reception and integration of citizens of third countries, victims of labor exploitation in agriculture in the areas of the Alto Bradano and the Metapontino”. This choice responds to the need to “determine a reception and integration path which has the dual objective of bringing to light the pockets of illegal work and the possible exploitation of non-EU seasonal workers and of helping them in their training courses and consequent job placement – we read in a press release from the Regional Council of Basilicata – The participation of the third sector in the co-planning and management processes of the interventions is therefore fundamental to make the responses provided more effective and appropriate, as well as to allow adequate use of the resources”.”The activities and interventions to be carried out must be aimed at encouraging the prevention, contrast and emergence of situations of serious labor exploitation in agriculture by providing a network of services within which the recipients, citizens of third countries regularly present, they may be accompanied by a multidisciplinary staff made up of trainers, community animators, social workers and linguistic-cultural mediators – we read further in a statement from the Regional Council of Basilicata – These services must be integrated with the reception, surveillance and and animation of workers, which will be developed in structures identified by Third Sector organizations in the Vulture Alto Bradano area and in the Metapontino area. The planned interventions were financed by the Fami programming fund 2021-2027 for a total amount of 1,164,000 euros and for the first time they will be able to be carried out, unlike in the past, also in a widespread manner throughout the entire territory concerned through the use of apartments or small accommodation facilities, given that Basilicata is called upon, within the public partnership of the five Regions of Southern Italy which have obtained European funding, to implement an experimental form of reception which avoids large concentrations and which as such can better guarantee the integration process and at the same time facilitate forms of permanent residence that go beyond the seasonal presence of these workers”.
