Viterbo – Armed robbery at gas station, second perpetrator arrested.
“Yesterday morning – we read in the note from the police headquarters – personnel of the state police of the flying squad of the Viterbo police headquarters, in execution of the precautionary custody order under house arrest issued by The preliminary investigations judge of Viterbo, arrested a 53-year-old Italian man in Sorano (Gr) for the crime of armed robbery, committed in Viterbo last June 12.
The man had been an accomplice in the robbery against the employees of the Ewa fuel station, for which another person in charge had already been arrested the same day, stopped at the Roma Nord motorway barrier while still on the run.
The investigations carried out by the Viterbo police, immediately after the arrest of the first robber, have allowed them to collect useful evidence against the man arrested today for the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Viterbo, which is coordinating the investigations.
In the same order, the confirmation of the precautionary measure of house arrest, initially issued by the judge of Rome against the first person arrested, was then ordered and executed.
Furthermore, the electronic bracelet device will be applied to both of them. Further investigations are underway to identify any other people responsible for the crime.”

Presumption of innocence
In the Italian criminal system the presumption of innocence applies until the final sentence. Presumption of innocence which is based on article 27 of the Italian constitution according to which a person “is not considered guilty until finally convicted”.
