Serigne Mbacke Gueye, known to all as “Bro”, makes a triple jump, moving from Category II Faventia to Faenza Calcio in Eccellenza. It’s a double challenge for the 31 year old Senegalese and for the sports director and coach Nicola Cavina who has decided to bet on the qualities of the player recommended by the goalkeeping coach Edmondo Santarelli. Gueye, known by all insiders by the nickname “Bro”, is a right-footed, flexible, physically strong midfielder who can play various roles, even if he prefers that of midfielder.

He is happy about the sporting challenge that awaits him. “It was an unexpected call, which fills me with joy, but at the same time makes me responsible. It is a dream come true because playing for Faenza does not happen every day. It is an important place and I feel Faenza since I have lived here for many years. I know Gjordumi and Ulivieri from previous experiences together at Reda, and this could be useful. I will give my all to contribute to a good season that can keep the team in a calm position”.

Trust reciprocated by the Manfreda club as confirmed by the manager and mister Nicola Cavina.

“It’s a bet that can be successful, in the sense that he has everything to play in Excellence despite the triple jump from the Second Category. He can play multiple roles. He has the physique and experience to do well. He has accepted a challenge that he can win with awareness of his means and the ability to get involved. We are curious to see him at work already in the first matches.”

Born in Senegal in Louga not far from the capital Dakar on 5 September 1993, Serigne Mbacke Gueye started playing football in his homeland and continued when he arrived in Italy thirteen years ago to join his father.

After starting in the amateur championship, he then made his debut in Dinamo Faenza, wearing the shirts of Reda, led by coach Agostino Vezzoli to win the First Category championship. Then he played for Real Lugo, and four years for Modigliana with different coaches: Maenza, Neri and Fontana, the last three all former biancoazzurri. In the last two seasons he played for Real Faenza and Faventia after the merger.
