A group of bandits armed with weapons of war attacked the Mondialpol vault on the outskirts of Sassari around 8.30pm. The criminals entered the security company’s factory by breaking through a wall with the bucket of a mechanical vehicle. They shot inside to scare the security guards and managed to get hold of the money kept in the vault and escaped. Like in a movie, the armed attack on the vault of the Mondialpol security institute in Sassari: an excavator to break down the wall, at least ten men in paramilitary gear, masked and equipped with bulletproof vests, armed with Kalashnikovs have assaulted the place, on the outskirts of Sassari. Numerous amateur videos show them while they do not hesitate to shoot at the security guards and the carabinieri during the blitz, organized to perfection.
The current secrecy about the value of the loot is absolute, probably the money intended to pay pensions in the credit institutions served by Mondialpol in the area. Also contradictory are the reports about a previous robbery at the same vault, perpetrated in 2018: according to Ansa the loot was 10 million euros, other sources spread the news of a robbery that ended badly.
The phases of this robbery, pre-ordained as in recent cinematographic films. Some of the bandits climbed over the fence with a ladder and entered the premises, where they took several bags of money, which they took out with the bucket of the mechanical vehicle that had broken through the wall. The bags were loaded onto a white Fiat Ducato van, with which they then fled in the direction of Cagliari. Not before shooting at a sentry box of the security force in the area and at the carabinieri they encountered during the operation. In the meantime, they had set fire to several cars outside, strewing the asphalt with nails to make access to the area difficult. The anti-robbery plan was launched throughout northern Sardinia, with roadblocks set up on the main roads of Sassari and Nuoro, and with the carabinieri helicopter that circled over the city all night.
