Lecce, 1 July 2024 – It would have been one quarrel for trivial reasons to unleash the fury of the 36 year old carer, who had been looking after her for two years Fernando Monte, the 82-year-old found dead yesterday afternoon in his home in Castrignano dei Greci, in the province of Lecce. During the night the Moldavian, who had been looking after the elderly man for two years, he confessed and was arrested on suspicion of murder.
According to the reconstruction of the Carabinieri, the 36-year-old would have hit the pensioner in the back of the head with a blunt object causing a deep wound, probable cause of death. Then he unleashed his anger all over the victim’s body, which showed obvious signs of beatings. The macabre discovery was made yesterday afternoon by the 82-year-old’s daughter, who lives upstairs and, returning from the sea, saw the caregiver naked outside the door, in an evident state of confusion. The woman entered the house and found her parent’s body lying on the ground.
The investigations are coordinated by carabinieri of the radiomobile section of the Maglie company and the investigative unit of the provincial command of Lecce. When the military arrived, the caregiver was still sitting in front of the victim’s home, covered in blood and in a state of confusion. Inside the home, where the two had been living for some time, the military found the 36-year-old’s clothes and smartphone still covered in blood. The man was declared under arrest and taken to the Lecce prison, at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
