During yesterday evening, the Vicenza Police Headquarters carried out a targeted check in the most sensitive areas of the city, with the help of the crews of the Crime Prevention Department of Padua. The monitoring of the State Police (here are other operations, ed.) concerned, in particular, the area of Campo Marzo, Piazzale Bologna, Viale Milano and the area of the SVT station, Corso Santi Felice e Fortunato.
During the activity, specific investigations were carried out on certain situations of degradation reported by the Municipality of Vicenza and by some residents in the areas indicated above.
We also found some reports received from some condominium administrators suggesting the presence of suspicious situations within some apartments.
Finally, following reports from the Municipality of Vicenza, two commercial activities in the area of Corso Santi Felice e Fortunato were checked. The outcome is currently being examined by the Administrative Police Division of the Vicenza Police Headquarters, in agreement with the competent municipal offices.
Inside an apartment, the State Police tracked down – following a tip-off – a woman involved in prostitution, who, after undergoing a document check, highlighted irregularities regarding her stay on the national territory. The same woman (of Peruvian origin) was accompanied to the Police Headquarters, at the disposal of the Immigration Office, for the initiation of expulsion procedures.
In Campo Marzo, an Italian citizen was found who was subject to the precautionary measure of the obligation to reside in Valdagno: a measure that he had evidently violated by going to Vicenza. He was therefore accompanied to the Police Headquarters for communications to the Judicial Authority regarding the aggravation of the measure in force.
Overall, over 100 people were checked.
