Great turnout of visitors, journalists and buyers at the Campania Region stand from 23 to 25 June at Fancy Food in New York, the most important exhibition dedicated to the food sector in the entire American continent.

The Department of Agriculture has selected the companies in the agri-food, fish and wine supply chain that have animated the three days with the proposal of Campania specialties and show cooking. The collective of companies and associations, led by the Councilor for Agriculture Nicola Caputo, has presented to the large audience of buyers, distributors, journalists and professionals of the sector from all over the world the agri-food excellences of Campania, and the numerous regional DOP and IGP branded products.

“At the Summer Fancy Food in New York – declared councilor Caputo on the sidelines of the event – the spotlight remained on the excellence of our agri-food production which is increasingly successful with its DOP and IGP products, from Gragnano Pasta to Mozzarella of Bufala Campana, with San Marzano tomato and all the other products from the extraordinary Campania agri-food basket. The United States of America is a strategic market, and the presence of many Campania companies at Fancy Food confirms the attention of our companies towards markets that require investments, commitment and always active promotion mechanisms. International markets also require careful design and special planning. Our role as institutions, which we are trying to improve through direct and constant dialogue with businesses, is precisely to encourage the growth of a relational infrastructure to support Campania businesses with agreements and alliances in the countries of greatest interest”.

The participation of the Campania collective at the New York fair is part of the two-year agri-food promotion program, promoted by the Department of Agriculture and approved with Regional Council Resolution n.778/2023. “The Campania agri-food sector – stated Councilor Caputo – is one of the engines of our economy. Campania is the first region for exports in the South of the country, and in particular for the agri-food sector, exports in 2023 recorded a growth of 6.5 percent compared to the previous year, above all thanks to the increase in volumes of wholesale sales. export of fruit, vegetables and dairy products. In other words, the world is increasingly hungry and thirsty for Campania, recognized as a region capable of offering quality and highly competitive products. A treasure in which we have been investing for some time, and which we will continue to cultivate with multi-directional promotion and development actions”.

During the event, Councilor Caputo met with the Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida, the president of the Ice Agency Matteo Zoppas, the Italian ambassador to the United States Mariangela Zappia, and institutional representatives of various Italian regions with whom he discussed growth opportunities on foreign markets. Many activities were organized by the Campania Region at the Summer Fancy Food in New York: conferences, meetings with the press, tastings.

During the event, Show Cookings were also held with the chefs of “Giallo zafferano”: Campania hosted the well-known chef Rosy Chin. Outside the fair, a promotional event took place at the “Ribalta Rooftop” on Broadway, which represented a further opportunity to promote the uniqueness and excellence of Campania’s agri-food products to specialized operators and buyers in the area. The Vinexpo USA 2024 wine excellence event also took place at the same time as Fancy Food.

The 16 Campanian companies in the agri-food sector were hosted in the exhibition space of the Italian pavilion, which saw over 300 exhibitors.
