Summer Festival, concerto della Mountain Top Strings of California

On Sunday 30 June 2024 at 6.30 pm the stage set up in Cortile Federico II, in Cremona, will see the performance of the Mountain Top Strings of California coming from the USA, and directed by Sharon Rizzo. The event has free entry and is subject to availability.

The concert is included in the Cremona Summer Festivalorganized by the Cremona Chamber of Commerce, as part of the progetto Masterclass, with the collaboration of the Municipalities of Cremona, Crema and Casalmaggiore.

The Chamber of Commerce has been promoting the project with conviction since 2009, with the awareness that music represents a resource for Cremona and its territory to be valorized also from a touristic point of view. The Cremona territory has established itself as A place to play for musical organizations from around the world.

After the pause in 2020 and the slow restart in 2021 and 2022, in 2024 the number of expected participants amounts to approximately 2,000 students, musicians, teachers and parents. The repertoire consists of Baroque music by Vivaldi, Corelli, Bach, Sacred Music, but also American music, Jazz, Rock and Folk.

The Cremona Summer Festival has the support and collaboration of the International School of Violin Making, the Violin Museum Foundation, the Touring Club, the Strada del Gusto Cremonese delle Botteghe del Centro, the Urban District of Commerce, Confartigianato, the Cremonese Filodrammatica Association , of the Consorzio Violin Makers “Antonio Stradivari” Cremona, of the Cremona International Music Academy, of the Casalmaggiore International Music Festival, of the Festival of Youth Orchestras of Florence, and of BeMyMusic Cremona.

MOUNTAIN TOP STRINGS OF CALIFORNIA

Mountain Top Strings of California, founded in 2011, is based in Big Bear Lake and is led by cellist and music educator Sharon Rizzo. Mountain Top Strings of California is a small ensemble of string musicians ages 13 to 30, who enjoy rehearsing and performing in an artistic and inspiring way.

Since their first concert tour in Italy and Austria in 2013, Mountain Top Strings have returned to Italy on 5 other occasions, and have held concerts and workshops in numerous prestigious venues including the Pantheon in Rome, the Church of Santa Maria della Pietà in Venice, known as “Vivaldi’s Church,” the Duomo in Orvieto, the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, the Cremona Summer Festival, the Istituto Boccherini Musicale in Lucca, the Church of Sant’Agnese in Agone in Rome, and the Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna.

SHARON RIZZO

Sharon Rizzo has been teaching string instruments in the Southern California mountain communities of Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead since 2000. Her Mountain Top Strings of California has won numerous awards for outstanding performance.

A professional cellist, Sharon holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Connecticut, a Master of Music degree from the University of California, Irvine, and an Artistic Certificate in Cello Performance from Southern Methodist University, Meadows School of the arts in Dallas, Texas.

Sharon has performed in many professional symphony orchestras and was a member of the Redlands Symphony Orchestra for 21 years. Sharon Rizzo has performed in many places both in the United States and abroad.
