The shooting at the Mondialpol in Sassari.

This evening, an armed gang attacked the headquarters of Mondialpol in Sassari located on the road to Caniga. The attack, conducted by a group of over 10 criminals, caused chaos and destruction.

The criminals set fire to several vehicles, one of which was on state road 131, between Viale Italia and Predda Niedda, causing a traffic block. Subsequently, using an excavator, they reached the perimeter wall of Mondialpol in via Caniga. With the tip of the bucket, they broke through the wall, thus managing to enter the counting room, where the money for the pensions was being prepared.

The robbers managed to take away an amount of money yet to be quantified, perhaps exceeding one million euros. During the assault, to ensure their escape, they fired numerous rifle shots at the carabinieri who intervened on the scene. The scene was characterized by moments of extreme tension and fear, with the police busy trying to contain the situation.

This evening’s coup recalls the assault of February 2016. On that occasion, the loot was at least ten million euros. The theft from the Mondialpol surveillance headquarters, located on the outskirts of Sassari, had been meticulously planned to maximize profits. The commando, made up of at least ten, perhaps fifteen people, was armed to the teeth. To break into the headquarters of the company, which manages numerous cash vans, the robbers had used a mechanical shovel. After breaking through the surrounding wall, they began firing shots wildly to terrorize the employees and facilitate entry into the offices.
