The Stellantis group confirmed, Thursday June 27, 2024, in the social and economic committee (CSE), its decision to separate from the workshop for the design and development of the tools necessary for the construction of automobiles assembled at the Stellantis factory. La Janais, near Rennes. 82 people still work there.

For the socialist mayor of Rennes Nathalie Appéré, it is “an incomprehensible decision” et “out of step with the issues which must lead, as we are working on the La Janais site, to investing in our territories in the service of the carbon-free economy”.

She sees there “a very bad signal” and denounces a “deleterious impact on the climate” and one “social leveling to the bottom: the effects of ultraliberal globalization and the frantic race for profitability are unfortunately known”. And to add that “On the contrary, the time has come for general mobilization to enable the reindustrialization of our country, while accelerating the decarbonization of productive activities in the face of the climate emergency. This is the ambition that we have with the Industrial Excellence Center that we are building with our partners on the Janais site”.
