The carabinieri of the Radiomobile Unit of Catania they arrested in the San Giorgio neighborhood, a 38-year-old local criminal, for the crimes of mistreatment of family members and extortion. The military received a request for help from a man who told the operators that he had just been attacked by his son, under house arrest for a robbery, in the family home.
Upon arrival, the police found the man in the street, evidently agitated and shaken by what had happened, waving his arms to attract the attention of the soldiers and inviting them to follow him. The police reassured him and followed him into the house where they surprised his 38-year-old son who was attacking his mother and sister with kicks and punches.
Upon seeing the soldiers, the young man walked away from the two women and rushed into the kitchen, where he grabbed a knife and began threatening his father to make him pay for calling the police. The latter, however, before he could approach his relatives, blocked him and disarmed him, then made him safe.
After making sure that those present did not need medical attention, the soldiers took the 38-year-old to the barracks, where they were joined by the entire family unit who filed a complaint. The young man, a drug addict, continually asked his parents for money and that day he had also attempted to steal his mother’s payment card who, however, had managed to take it away from his mother.
