Tomorrow – Saturday 29 June 2024 – the 111th edition of the Tour de France 2024 officially begins, with the first stage from Florence to Rimini. For the occasion, the Romagna city and the surrounding municipalities involved have announced various changes to the road system and diversions of local public transport.

For the first time the Tour de France will start from Italy, with departure scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday June 29th. This first stage of the Big loop will depart from Florence at 12.40pm, traveling along a stretch of the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines up to the seafront of Riminiin Emilia Romagna.
The city of Romagna and the neighboring municipalities involved have planned various special measures to facilitate the event, including diversions and changes to traffic. Measures that will also affect the public transport service.

Tour de France 2024: deviations and changes to traffic in Rimini and surrounding areas

They will come into force during the race parking and circulation bans on the roads used by the runners and in the parking areas for competition vehicles. As anticipated, changes will also be made to public transport lines. To avoid problems, it is advisable to move on foot, by bicycle and by using the city’s alternative mobility services such as bike sharing or electric scooters. But let’s see all the deviations a Rimini, Novafeltria and to FS line Riccione-Morciano.

Rimini

Traffic will be stopped on Queen Helen Avenue and the roundabout of Via Toscanini. While, on Saturday 29 June, the Rimini Sud motorway toll booth it will be closed both on exit and entry from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pmor in any case until the needs cease.

Additionally, there will be the following changes to the bus linesfrom 12.30pm until the end of the event:

  • Line 3: modified in both directions between Ospedaletto and Rimini, following alternative routes through Viale CA dalla Chiesa, Via Flaminia and others;
  • Line 7: completely suspended from 2.30pm until the end of the event;
  • Line 8: routes modified in both directions between Rimini FS and Gros, on via Flaminia and other roads;
  • Line 9: temporary terminus moved to the Study Center in via Fada and the Hospital-Airport route suspended:
  • Line 11: suspended for the whole day;
  • Line 18 and 19: both lines will not pass through the hospital. Temporary terminals will be set up at the Study Center in via Fada;
  • Line 20: modified in both directions between Coriano and Rimini FS, following an alternative route similar to Line 3;
  • Line 124: the last trips leave from Rimini FS at 10.47 and from Morciano at 12.05. Subsequent trips are cancelled, with a special service between Riccione FS and Morciano Risorgimento.

Newfeltria

On Saturday 29th June, they will be closed to traffic via Sarsinate (SP8) e via Marecchiese (SP258) in the section between the SP8 and via San Leo. Moreover, they will be there changes to bus routes 160, 161 e 162 due to a demonstration.

  • Line 160: it will be limited up to Secchiano with a temporary terminus in the industrial area of ​​Secchiano;
  • Line 161: the 2.10pm trip from Novafeltria will be cancelled;
  • Line 162: suspended from 12.10pm to 4.52pm.

They will be instead stops suspended that go from AC0004 (They bucket) to AH0012 (Bridge Mass) and from AH0025 (SP 1) a AH0021 (SP 27) in both directions.

The alternative stops available are AC00095 e AC0015.

Riccione-Morciano FS line

From 1pm until the end of the races, Line 124 operates with a special service every two hours between Riccione FS and Morciano Risorgimento. Thus facilitating the connection from Morciano to the Metromare and making it easier to access the locations of the Municipality of Rimini.

The changes in detail:

  • Route of line 124:
    • Direction Morciano: Departs from the temporary terminus on Via XIX Ottobre and runs along Viale delle Magnolie, Viale Ceccarini, Corso Cervi to Viale Lazio. Departures from Riccione FS every two hours from 13:15 to 17:15 and the last one at 19:36;
    • Direction Riccione FS: Follows via Santarosa, via Panoramica and returns to via XIX Ottobre, where the temporary arrival terminus is located. Departures from Morciano Risorgimento are every two hours from 14:05 to 20:05.
