A 35-year-old from Udine has been placed under house arrest, believed to be the perpetrator of the stabbing that occurred on Saturday 22 June in Udine

A 35-year-old from Udine, believed to be the perpetrator of the stabbing that took place in Via Roma last Saturday, following which a Dominican citizen was injured, is under house arrest, in execution of the measure ordered by the investigating judge of the Udine Court.

The precautionary measure was carried out this morning by the Udine State Policewith the staff of the Flying Squad.

After the attack, the man fled

The investigation activity carried out, coordinated by the local Public Prosecutor’s Office, has allowed us to collect important elements of guilt against the 35-year-old, who disappeared immediately after the event, leaving the city. The man had been contacted by investigators and convinced to present himself at the Police Headquarters to clarify his position.

The 35-year-old then turned himself in, accompanied by his lawyer, in the early afternoon of Monday 24 June and was interviewed by the investigators.

Based on what emerged during the investigations, the investigating judge of the Court of Udine, at the request of the Public Prosecutor, issued the precautionary custody order under house arrest. Now the 35-year-old will have to answer for injuries aggravated by the use of a weapon.
