In Marche, salaries are among the lowest in Italy.

“Precariousness and low wages: unions and politics meet to mend the fractures”: this is the title of the conference, scheduled for this afternoon (4 pm), promoted by Cgil Marche, with Eleonora Fontana, regional secretary of Cgil Marche, Giuseppe Santarelli, general secretary of Cgil Marche, Andrea Lassandari, professor of Labour Law at the University of Bologna, Arturo Scotto, PD deputy, Roberto Cataldi, M5s senator and Franco Mari, Avs deputy.
The conclusions are by Maria Grazia Gabrielli, national secretary of Cgil. At the center of the debate, the low wages of workers in the Marche.

In particular, according to the latest Ires Cgil survey on Inps 2023 data, the poorest workers are those who work in the hotel, catering and travel agency sectors, with a gross annual salary of 8,723 euros, followed by those in personal services with 10,181 euros, then artistic, sports, museum and association activities with 11,403 euros per year.
The ranking continues with teachers and educators and the 14,648 euros gross per year that they receive, those in health and social care with 16,076 euros, and then there are workers in IT, research, business services with 16,669 euros.
And that’s not all: workers in the food, beverage and tobacco industries follow with 16,752 euros, construction with 19,798 euros, and trade with 19,995.
Then, those of clothing, footwear and leather with 20,263. the richest in the ranking are the workers in the extraction of minerals from quarries and mines with 46,194 euros, and then there are those in financial and insurance activities with 44,310, in the middle of the ranking are the furniture workers with 24,319 and mechanics with 27,383.

THE ANALYSIS –“These data are the best answer to those who say that it is not possible to find youth workers in the Marche – declares Giuseppe Santarelli, general secretary of CGIL Marche -. The conditions dictated by the labor market are oriented towards poor work, below the levels of other regions and with a more accentuated precariousness. If we add to this a demographic dynamic that sees a drastic decline in residents among the young, the future cannot be seen. Real and targeted policies from the Marche Region and from entrepreneurs are urgently needed.”

Eleonora Fontana, regional secretary of Cgil Marche, relaunches: “If average wages are lower than the national average, and this is weighed down by the high percentage of part-time, intermittent and temporary contracts, we cannot be surprised if young people in particular find opportunities outside the Marche. These are unacceptable inequalities and, for this reason, we will continue to work to achieve serious policies with particular attention to young people and to women.”
