PISTOIA – For the twelfth consecutive year, Thursday 4 July sees the return of the Notte Rossa of Avis Pistoia, the event aimed at promoting blood donation and raising awareness on the issues of solidarity and social cohesion.

Starting at 9 pm, widespread events will be held in the historic center of Pistoia, with a dive into the Nineties and many other initiatives: meetings, shows, workshops, games for children and entertainment activities for an audience of all ages.

In Piazza del Duomo the key event will be “Nostalgia 90”, a show to relive a night full of memories and energy. After last year’s success, with a square packed with people of all ages, Avis Pistoia wants to make everyone relive an exciting evening that will take us back to the nineties with dancers, special effects, animations and a one-of-a-kind setting. Nostalgia 90 will be preceded by an opening with a DJ set with the Pistoia group “Psycomentrio feat Unta” which will begin to warm up the square.

Like every year, on the occasion of the Notte Rosse, the streets and squares of the historic center will be involved in a program that includes live music, street dancing, magic shows, aerial dance, theatrical performances, games for children, for a total of sixteen events. The shops in the historic center will remain open and will set up their spaces with balloons and red placemats.

The evening’s program proves to be very rich with some reconfirmations of successes from past years, but also with some new features. Among these, the concert of the Fanfare of the Naval Academy of Livorno, directed by the First Lieutenant, Maestro Franco Impalà, who will perform in Piazza dello Spirito Santo; a theatrical show focused on the life of Don Lorenzo Milani with the Pistoia actor Tommaso De Santis in the rediscovered square of the Scuola Normali; free guided tours, with reservations required, to the medieval complex of San Jacopo in Castellare, organized by Caterina Bellezza.

In the Roman square, a very special puppet show with the “Story of Prezzemolina”, taken from the Novellaia Pistoiese, organized by the Florentine company Pupi di Stac; magic shows and games with the Pistoia magician Francesco Micheloni in Piazza della Sapienza; aerial dance shows in front of the church of San Giovanni Fuorcivitas; group dances in the National Gallery, music for all tastes in Piazza della Sala with “Che banda è”, in via Buozzi with “Michele ei Baroni” and trap music with PNG in via Bozzi.

And more group dancing with Full Feeling Dancing in the National Gallery, clowns and itinerant street artists, including Mammolo, who will involve all the children and their families. There will also be space for the promotion of sport in via Cino with gaming activities with Wolf Basket Pistoia. Not to be missed, due to the close relationship that binds them with Avis Pistoia, are the soldiers of the Nembo Parachute Regiment who, with their demonstrations, will attract adults and children and an information point for the Fire Brigade and the Traffic Police to raise awareness of safety-related issues.

On the Globo, as usual, there will be the Avis information point with volunteers ready to raise awareness and offer all kinds of information on blood donation.

“I never thought I could get to the twelfth edition of the Notte Rossa – declared Igli Zannerini, president of Avis Pistoia – all of this was made possible thanks to the commitment of the volunteers and the financial support of our sponsors and the trust of the municipal administration and to the very positive response from commercial activities and the city of Pistoia.

The Red Night has become an important event in the calendar of summer events, an opportunity for fun and celebration with widespread events in the historic center of the city, but also a tool for raising awareness among citizens towards the topic of blood donation: it is a period in which there is a shortage of blood for transfusions in some blood groups and the number of donors is still small, as Avis we must try to broaden the pool of donors”.

“It will be an evening of music and entertainment with free admission – relaunches the mayor Alessandro Tomasi – in exchange we ask citizens to stop for a few minutes at the Avis counter to get all the useful information on how to become donors. In anticipation of this event we want to launch a challenge to the city: find 200 new blood donors to save human lives”.

This year, the Red Night is made possible thanks to the support of the Caript Foundation, the Conad Nord Ovest Cooperative and the Conad members of the territory, the Regional Council of Tuscany, Avis Regionale Toscana, Bcc Banca Alta Toscana, Mister Wizard, Toscana Promozione, Confcommercio, GiMetal, Sima Energia, Brandini, Pistoia a domicilio, Elettrotecnica Agostini, Centro Orafo, Meccanica Aps, Azienda Agricola Le Cotte, Azienda Ortovivaistica Gelli, Studio 09.
