Two boys in difficulty at sea saved from drowning

On Thursday 27 June, in the body of water in front of the “Il Pirata” bathing establishment in Pescara, two boys in difficulty were rescued, thanks to the intervention of two lifeguards from the Fisa Angels of the Sea.
The rescue was carried out by two lifeguards, Brian Esdra Britos Sosa and Ruslan Di Sabatino.

Carmen Padalino, vice president of Angeli del Mare Fisa, says: «It was a day like any other at the “il Pirata” beach resort in Pescara Sud. Our lifeguard Brian Esdra Britos Sosa was on duty on the control tower, carefully monitoring the sea. His experience allowed him to immediately notice two boys who were swimming very far from the shore. Concerned for their safety, Brian promptly whistled to get their attention and invite them to return to the beach. However, the boys ignored the warning, continuing to swim further and further out. A few moments later, one of the boys began to panic and showed obvious signs of difficulty. The young man was drowning. Without wasting a moment, Brian jumped into action. With impressive speed, he reached the boy in danger together with his colleague Ruslan Di Sabatino on the life raft. Once they reached the boy in difficulty, the two lifeguards acted with extreme professionalism. Brian and Ruslan remained calm and reassured the boy, managing to get him onto the life raft. With the young man safe, they began the return journey to shore, making sure the boy was stable and out of danger. Once they reached shore, the boy was handed over to the care of the rescuers on site, who confirmed that, thanks to the timely intervention of the two lifeguards, his life had been saved.

Marco Schiavone, president of Angeli del Mare Fisa, adds: «As Angeli del Mare we have started this precious collaboration with Fisa (Italian Federation of Aquatic Rescue) that allows us to train young rescuers with a very high level of professionalism. We also ask our collaborators to put passion and heart into it. The sea is beautiful, but it is also a continuous possible threat for swimmers, especially the elderly and children. Our rescuers are trained not only in rescue techniques, swimming, first aid. But above all to prevent or rather observe and try to inform swimmers about the possible dangers of the sea, always in close collaboration with all the port authorities that we thank for their active support for human protection. Together with Carmen Padalino, my partner, we thank the president of Fisa, Raffaele Perrotta, for the preparation of Fisa water rescuers and for their professionalism».
