New rules effective from July 1st – BisceglieLive.it

Starting from 1 July, the new Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL) will be active in the historic center of Bisceglie, operational every day, 24 hours a day, with an Urban Pedestrian Area on via Tupputi. The traffic system therefore changes with access to the restricted traffic zone allowed exclusively to residents, domiciliary workers and commercial activities in the historic center in possession of a pass.

The portal dedicated to requests for authorizations is available at bisceglie.sismic.it: here, via SPID, specific passes can also be requested for different types of users such as loading and unloading goods, people with disabilities, guests of hospitality businesses, pharmacies, garages or workshops, property owners, suppliers or in case of justified needs, as per the case studies and details available in the union ordinance published in the Local Police section of the Municipality of Bisceglie website.

The historic center has been divided into two distinct areas for optimal traffic management. Zone A includes the area between Piazza Margherita, via Giulio Frisari, via Guglielmo Marconi, Via Trento, Via Cardinale Dell’Olio (odd street numbering), Piazza Duomo, via Pendio Campanile, Arco Fanelli, via Lamantea and Strada Caldaia; zone B includes the area between via Ottavio Tupputi, Largo Castello, Largo Purgatorio, via Trieste, Largo Porta di Mare, via Cristoforo Colombo, via Pendio San Matteo, Piazza Tre Santi and via Cardinale Dell’Olio (even street numbers).

Checks will be carried out both when entering and exiting the historic center, thus ensuring compliance with traffic rules. Authorized vehicles will be able to circulate throughout the historic center, but parking will only be permitted in their own area. In addition to the areas within the historic center where parking is permitted, there will be the possibility of parking in two reserved areas: Via La Marina for residents, domiciliaries and commercial activities in zone A and Corso Umberto, between via Porto and largo Castello on both sides, for zone B. In addition to these, regulated parking with a time disc will be established for a duration of 30 minutes in the area of Corso Umberto below the Norman Tower, near the intersection between Corso Umberto and Largo Castello, between 08.00 and 13.00 and from 17.00 to 21.00.

“The entry into force of the new ZTL rules represents an important moment for our city. The goal is to have a historic center free from cars, therefore more orderly, usable, welcoming and liveable,” commented the Mayor of Bisceglie, Angelantonio Angarano. “A goal we are working on in synergy with the councilors Angelo Consiglio, Antonio Belsito and Maurizio Di Pinto, with the Municipal Technical Office and the Local Police, who are carefully following all phases of the project.”
