In the past few hours, Catania announced that it had entrusted the role of sporting director to Daniele Faggiano. Below is an extract of the words released by the former Palermo manager, who presented himself to the press today, Thursday 6 June:
«If I am here it is thanks to the enthusiasm of vice president Grella and the enthusiasm of the city. I don’t come into a category: I come to a city that has a great population. Does anyone say I rejected the B? I didn’t refuse anything, I chose Catania. I looked for Grella. On many occasions. And not to get a contract. I am proud to come to Catania: Catania has no categories, Catania is known throughout the world. I also saw a banner on the corner in the Champions League. For me it is a stimulating, fearless challenge. Catania is a city that is hungry, like me. I will also be careful to “not make the club cry”, trying not to leave long contracts, always watching the coffers. I want to be remembered for doing well and not for putting society in difficulty. The past? I’ll try to look ahead. The first step is choosing the coach. It is normal that we have to pay attention to the smallest details. We have to do thoughtful things to try to be as competitive as possible and we will try to have a good market already in June. The objective will be to sweat the shirt until the end, functional players will be needed.”
