LIVORNO. Thanks to the completion of the dock and the construction of the new basin, the Lorenzoni shipyard in Livorno is moving towards full operation: the first real test was the grounding of a 28-meter, 140-ton tugboat thanks to the company’s own travel.

«It was a great satisfaction to see the perfect success of an operation that represents a historic turning point for our company – states one of the owners of the historic city shipbuilding company, Luigi Lorenzoni –, after years of difficulty in completing the completion of the quay, the construction of the tank and the asphalting of the square. Thanks to this important investment of ours, we have also made the 150 ton travel operational: all this will allow us to expand the range of action of our shipyard to private and commercial boats up to 30 metres, an indispensable service in a port like that of Livorno, which responds to a sector that sees a very large fleet. We are now waiting for the dredging of the quay front which will allow us to complete the operation of the structure.”

«The shipbuilding industry in Livorno is alive and dynamic – says the union coordinator of Cna Livorno Alessandro Longobardi – and the Lorenzonis are one of its best in terms of equipment and skills».

«The range of boats up to 30 meters now has a new point of reference which will be able to further develop as soon as the works at sea are completed by the Port Authority – adds Longobardi -. The projects on the new structure of the entire naval repair, construction and refitting area will also have to take into account the needs of this segment up to 30 meters in which the Lorenzoni shipyard has become highly specialized over the years, also expanding its staff and continuing to invest in equipment”.
