The striker on his future: ‘Capuano hasn’t called me and I don’t think he will’

(by Tany Nardo) Simone Simeri, former Potenza footballer, spoke to Corriere dello Sport about his experience at Taranto and future prospects.

“My experience with the Rossoblu was excellent, regardless of the goals scored, even if those count. If you score 15 in a championship, you have a particular market; if you score less, you are considered the poor striker of the moment. In any case, I am happy to have given my contribution to a team that is already strong in itself.”

“As for the lost play-offs, after so many days I understand all the disappointment, but I believe that Taranto exceeded expectations, placing second and being eliminated from the playoffs by a team that reached the last stage for Serie B. As a group we did our best, even if the playoffs put us to the test mentally.”

“The team has merits because it placed second behind only Juve Stabia, but those who have made mistakes off the pitch have demerits. As for my future, Capuano didn’t look for me and I think this call won’t come. I had a good time in Taranto, but the time has come to project myself onto the present, namely Bari. It is plausible that for Taranto it is not the first option, but in this game nothing is certain.”
