Reggio Calabria, Falcomatà: “the Reggio summer has already begun”

Interviewed by journalists on the sidelines of a public event this morning, the mayor of Reggio Calabria Giuseppe Falcomatà addressed the issue of initiatives related to the Reggio summerto initiatives for Feast of Madonna and to White Night. The mayor said: “when I said that there is a positive temporal situation I was saying exactly this, all the institutions must be ready to team up, to create a synthesis and create synergy and this has not always been possible. One example among many, we have managed today, thanks to the new management of the Archaeological Museum of Magna Graecia, to create the much desired single ticket, to organize the Night of the Museums”.

“The Reggio summer has already begun in fact, it has begun in the activities of our beaches and will begin soon also with the opening of the kiosks, it will also begin with the delivery to the city of the seaside places returned in full usability. I am returning from an inspection in Catona but of course we have the Tempietto, the Parco Lineare Sud, the Lido, many things that are coming to a conclusion”.

“In the next few days we will present the Reggina Summer program. A Reggina summer which this year, unlike other years, will be organized through thematic festivals, therefore the Film Fest, the Open Air Cinema, the Festival of Widespread Culture and in these days we are opening the envelopes of the proposals that have arrived for concerts and theatrical activities. The Classical Music Festival, the Popular Culture Festival and initiatives that will be held in Piazza Castello at the beginning of August. All this will be presented in the next few days during a press conference. Tomorrow I will bring together the Festa di Madonna Festa Committee because this year too we want to propose something that will start the festivities before Good Friday and I am thinking for example of the White Night”.

Precisely on the Reggio summer, however, there have been in recent days fierce controversies with Confesercenti who, interpreting the pressure of many citizens, had publicly denounced the now usual inefficiencies of the Administration in the lack of planning. We are at the end of June, the Reggio summer should have been planned and announced with all the events already several months ago, instead the Mayor is amusing himself that it would be “already started“, as if at the end of June we could really say “Already” for an event that in all other cities began almost a month ago, and in defiance of the reality of a city that is instead depressed, sad and devoid of significant events in which the Mayor’s only horizon is the feast of Madonna di September with the usual tarantellas and assorted sausages…
