«Zero humidity and services, we are abandoned»

«To date I have not received any response from the president of Acer David Lebro to whom I had written last May 30th asking for compliance with the agreements stipulated in 2021 for the housing in via Saragat whose inhabitants have been waiting for a solution to various pending situations for years”.

These are the words of Clemente Mastella compared to a long-standing and complicated affair. For the moment, the mayor will avoid further comments and, through his collaborators, will try to solicit feedback in the next few days by also activating “diplomatic” channels. Meanwhile he mounts a protest from families in the San Pio neighborhood. The president of the neighborhood committee, Pietro Aquino, after waiting for news for about a month following the initiative implemented by Mastella, expresses his full dissent on behalf of all the inhabitants, declares a state of agitation and reiterates an old request in draw a summary picture of the situation.

«First of all – he says – the attitude of President Lebro who has not yet provided any response despite the urgency of the problems is truly deplorable as well as strange. In light of this silence which certainly does not comfort us, we ask for the umpteenth time, officially, the creation of an institutional or technical table which includes the mayor Mastella, official representatives of Acer, of the Campania Region, the lawyer Tiziana Genito and the city planning councilor Molly Chiusolo. We want answers. We are tired of this state of affairs that has dragged on for decades, while the conditions of the buildings worsen day by day. Plus there is also a paradoxical fact. There are 21 families who have not yet been able to sign the notarial deed for the purchase of their respective apartments and in this regard the reasons are not known nor is there any news on any future appointments to be made, both from Acer and the lawyer in charge of following the matter. These people, who have reached a maximum level of tolerance, ask me for news every day and I can’t give explanations, also because no one answers us. Unfortunately, here the spotlight comes on intermittently and then we are abandoned to our fate. But if the problems are not resolved this time or there are concrete developments, people are thinking of carrying out sensational protest actions.” The deafening silence observed so far regarding Mastella’s letter is undoubtedly perplexing and certainly does not bode well.

This is the text sent to the “number one” of Acer Campania at the end of May. «An effective and constant institutional collaboration produced, in 2021, a historic result for the residents of via Saragat: the assignees of the accommodation, after twenty years, saw their inalienable right to finally be owners and no longer simple assignees recognized. However, in recent months – we read – I have had to record, also through numerous reports received from tenants, a setback in the execution of the interventions agreed both in the settlement agreement and in the notarial deeds. These are fundamental works to allow families to live in decent conditions, especially during the winter season: Acer had committed to renovating the entire ground floor, the sewerage system, as well as eliminating the problem of rising damp. Unfortunately, I must note that, to date, none of these interventions have begun. The risk that must be absolutely avoided, so that the dignity of living is not further compromised, is that next winter the accommodation will remain without these works and this would be objectively unacceptable. Furthermore, I would like to point out that at present the last notarial deeds have not been completed, which could not be stipulated at the time due to technical problems, but which have now been completely overcome. For these reasons, I ask you to work, reasonably quickly, to resolve the problems exposed, so as to provide concrete answers to the families who live in via Saragat”.
