For the first time in its more than one hundred year history, the Tour de France will start from Italy. The city of Florence will be the starting point and home of the village of this splendid sporting event. A large turnout of people is expected for the occasion and changes and bans on road traffic are expected, which will affect the performance of the city’s collection and cleaning services.
To minimize the impacts, Alia has set up a dedicated task force. Taking into account the scale of the event, Alia invites everyone to cooperate fully, in particular on Saturday 29th, the date of the start of the cycling race, which will be characterized by the closure of the roads along the route to traffic from 9am to 2pm of the competition, especially within the Unesco Area (historic centre) and in Gavinana.
For Saturday it will be important to avoid, as far as possible, the disposal of waste, both at the stations and in the bins located along the race route. These limitations on mobility, in fact, will cause the inevitable suspension of street waste collection services, in addition to the reduced ability to access places for emptying bins and street sweeping. At the end of the event, all services will resume regular operation and we will try to restore the decorum of the places as soon as possible.
To find out all the details area by area, Alia has prepared a page that will be continuously updated
