«In a few days we will start again with the 2024/25 season and we will do it with Mr. Viali who I thank for accepting our proposal – Salerno began – We have been chasing him for at least three years and we are finally happy to have managed to convince him to come to Reggio. With a new sporting director and a new coach, everything will be new for Reggiana. It will also be the sixth sporting season for us members in Reggio Emilia, my seventh solo show alongside Amadei. I lived five important years in Reggio and I proudly remember where we started from, from Serie D, then we brought Reggiana back to Serie B with two promotions without forgetting the year cursed with Covid and two important championships in Serie C. In these For five years we have made Reggiana grow from every point of view».
The president returned to placing the emphasis on growth of the club that passes by sports Center of Via Agosti and on the many social initiatives in which Reggiana became the protagonist, thanks also to the important help of the sponsor: «The first year in Reggio we trained in 7-8 different fields around the city then we were guests of a sports center for three years (in Cavazzoli, ed.) – Salerno recalled – Last year we finally moved to a real pitch which is the working tool par excellence of a football team. The Sports Center we built has yet to be completed and will take time, but we have grown thanks to everyone’s work, we have also become a point of reference on a social level for the area, we have carried out initiatives with Unimore, the Police Headquarters, the schools … From Gravina on down they recognize us as having an important social value in the area, thanks to everyone’s help: the Municipality and the sponsors who are the lifeblood of Reggiana. The sponsors did not abandon us during Covid and they are all Reggiana fans and always support us in the dark moments. We are preparing to face the second consecutive championship in Serie B after 25 years: the technical level is very high and some matches seem like Serie A starting from the crowd, in fact sometimes they are more beautiful. We will face it with the awareness that we know how to fit here and with the same enthusiasm and determination as the last five years. There are all the conditions to do better than last year».
There salvation for Reggiana it must continue to be the final objective but it can also become a starting point: «As said several times, Serie B is a very difficult championship but it must also be an asset for Reggio, as it is for other cities, and in the next three, four or five years we will have to think about saving ourselves – underlined Salerno – Every year there are positive and negative surprises. The first result to be achieved is to keep this heritage with us. Everything that comes after salvation is a reward for the technical staff and for us as a club who invest a lot».
