On the occasion of Trento European Capital of Volunteering 2024 and thanks to the collaboration with the Culture Service, the Galleria Civica di Trento, Tourism and Youth Policies – Municipality of Trento and various cultural associations, the project “Allegory of public happiness” lights up the city of Trento with public art installations, among which the intervention of the artist and street artist OZMO stands out.

What is happiness in social, economic and political contexts? Is it possible to separate individual and public happiness? How can we change a cultural model that since the 1980s has proposed a total overlap between hedonism and happiness, when the history of thought, sociology, psychology and even economic studies clearly state that happiness has roots elsewhere, in the gift and in solidarity? Can artists offer cultural models capable of focusing on an expanded, collective and plural conception of the concept of happiness?

The exhibition “Allegory of public happiness”, set up in the spaces of the Civic Gallery of Trentoit can be visited until June 30, 2024. Through an interpenetration of eras, subjects, cultural matrices, the exhibition path favors the coexistence of artistic research that questions happiness not only as a principle of self-determination of the person but as public interest. Between social rites and cultural languages, curators and artists invite us to experiment with new forms of sociality and to conceive public happiness as a condition of well-being achievable through daily practices of resistance and active participation.

The outdoor program of the project “Allegory of public happiness” foresees the involvement of citizens and the redefinition of public space through public art interventions, from street art to dance to performance, presented in symbolic places of the city adding a dimension of sharing and socialization that goes beyond the boundaries of the exhibition spaces of the Galleria Civica with the artists Chiara Camoni with Centro di Sperimentazione, Hannes Egger, Eduard Habicher, Tamara Janes, Ahmet Öğüt, Ozmo, Nico Vascellari, Chiara Ventura, Wunderkammer.
