“Immediate maintenance of manholes and drains”

“The bad weather that severely affected our city yesterday caused extensive damage in the area.” This was communicated by the mayor of Rovigo Valeria Cittadin, after the first monitoring of the consequences of the combined action of the whirlwind and the water bomb which hit the capital and surrounding areas on the morning of Tuesday 25 June.

From the first checks the main damages reported by municipal structures are the following: flooding of the basement of the local police headquarters in viale Marconi with significant damage to the heating plant, motorcycles and electric bicycles in the garage and flooding of the armory with damage to the alarm system; flooding of the Teatro Sociale; flooding of the thermal power plant of the Museum of the Great Rivers; flooding of the municipal garage; flooding of the urban planning office in via Badaloni.

“Mayor Valeria Cittadin thanks the Local Police, the Fire Brigade, all the law enforcement agencies, the Civil Protection volunteers, Ecoambiente and those who worked to ensure that the situation could return to normal as soon as possible”.

“I have received videos from citizens – states mayor Cittadin – which highlight the state of desperation in which they find themselves, with flooded houses and destroyed furnishings. I express my deepest sympathy and one of our priorities will be to maintain and clean manholes and drains in order to prevent devastating situations and flooding like those of yesterday”.
