Presence in the area, vision of the future and, why not, even a bit of healthy humility. These are these, according to the mayor Luigi Massa, the elements that led to his reconfirmation. The recent electoral result has in fact expressed the desire on the part of the people of Offida to continue on the path traced by his administration. And we asked the mayor himself for a comment on the matter.

Mayor Massa, the recent elections saw you triumph with broad consensus: what did the citizens appreciate most about your administration?

Certainly the perseverance and pragmatism with which we have pursued our vision. The commitment we have made in recent years for the city has been particularly burdensome, as it has taken place in very difficult contexts: war, inflation and pandemic above all. I also believe that closeness to citizens, especially the most fragile, has been the key to this reconfirmation. I would therefore like to underline that our administration does not leave the last ones behind and has everyone at heart: no one excluded. In recent years we have set ourselves the goal of increasing the attractiveness of the country, focusing on tourism and public works. Lastly, the humility with which we have approached citizens has played an important role”.

How can we convince those who have chosen to vote differently?

I have always maintained that the mayor belongs to all citizens, even those who have made another political choice. In fact, I believe that the job of an administrator is to put himself at the service of the entire community. Nonetheless, I believe that the best way to “convince” others is through daily action, which is made up of the above-mentioned elements. Naturally, our democratic system allows anyone to freely decide who to vote for, leaving this decision up to the individual.”.

Offida is a particularly attractive city from a tourist point of view; how do you plan to enhance this very important resource?

We have been one of the “most beautiful villages in Italy” for several years. This has led us to increase our attractiveness, positioning ourselves as one of the most popular tourist realities in the region and in the whole of Italy. What has been stated is obviously supported by the recent data reported here. In 2023, our main structures – the “Serpente Aureo” theatre, the museum complex and Santa Maria Della Rocca – were visited by a total of 29,800 people. While the data for 2024 already record 11,600 admissions, confirming our appeal. Also worth mentioning is the visibility we received in the media, in which we were the protagonists of national news programs and numerous other renowned broadcasts. Of course we will also strengthen one of our main assets – the Carnival – which, as we know, attracts thousands of people every year”.

What are the main projects for the city?

From an infrastructural point of view, “Polo 06″ is under construction. The objective is the creation of innovative teaching. In fact, the structure will host children from Offida as early as 2025. The educational value of the same is commendable, as the nursery, nursery and primary school students will be brought together in the same school complex. The latter will work together, which represents a futuristic project, both for the city and for the region”.
