The countdown, here in Udine, will reach zero Thursday 27 Junewhen the “Loris Fortuna” garden in Piazza Primo Maggio will see the programming developed once again take off by CEC/Visionary with the Municipality of Udine (in the context of UdinEstate2024).
More than two months of cinema “under the stars”, therefore, for those who remain in the city or for those who have just returned from holidays. More than two months of films, one title a day, to navigate among the hits of the season that is coming to an end, the previews of the season that will open in September, a series of special events and a series of very first screenings (like Dostoevsky by the brothers D’Innocenzo). «Summertime… and the livin’ is easy», sang Billie Holiday, and there couldn’t be a better background to browse the highlights of Udine’s long cinematic summer. Starting from the title chosen to officially inaugurate the “Loris Fortuna” Garden: Poor creatures! by Yorgos Lanthimos, the absolute phenomenon of the last year and a half (Golden Lion in Venice, four statuettes, two Golden Globes).
If the Greek director’s ace takes it all will be part of the thematic section “Oscar Film”together with Anatomy of a fall, Perfect Days, Past Lives And The area of interestthe other bookmarks on the calendar will also bring together truly unmissable titles: from “Almodóvar – Bodies on loan” (Volver, Talk to her) to “The long cult summer/Back to the 90s” (Hate, Donnie Darko), from “#udinehorror” (Vermin) to the forays into Italian cinema, European cinema and animation cinema, without forgetting “Under the sign of Loris Fortuna”the itinerary organized to celebrate one hundred years since the birth of the illustrious Udine (whose name the Garden bears).
Among the special events of the “first half” of the program, which will run from 27 June to 31 July, the collaboration with Udin&Jazz: we will be able to see that masterpiece again Buena Vista Social Club (July 4th), we will be able to enjoy The Navigator by Buster Keaton set to music live by the Zerorchestra (9 July) and we will also be able to enjoy the highly anticipated live performances by Marc Ribot (13 July) and Daniela Pes (14 July). The screenings, remember, will start at around 9.30pm (as soon as it gets dark) and the ticket office will open at 9.00pm.
