MESSINA – Riviera Nord, in the men’s game, and Unime, in the women’s game, achieved victory on penalties in the first stage of the regional beach soccer championship Serie B, “Sabbie di Sicilia”. The men’s final was decided by goalkeeper Manuel Raimondi who scored the equalizer at the end of the match scored by Valenti from Catania, and then converted the decisive penalty. Catania Beach Soccer of president Giuseppe Bosco, who fielded the Under 20 team, was defeated. Third place was assigned, after the protest won against Fair Play (which had won 4-3 on the pitch), to Villafranca. The ranking, from fifth to eighth place, rewards, in order, Ronin, Virtus Messina, Pgs Luce, Asd Siac.
Unime triumphs in the women’s tournament. After beating Vittoria (5-0) and Virtus Femminile Marsala respectively (7-6 after penalties, 4-4 after regular time), Catania Beach Soccer and Unime found themselves playing an exciting final full of ideas. After the 2-2, at the end of extra time, the interminable lottery of penalty prizes for 6-5, the home team, driven by a strong local support and with goalkeeper De Domenico the best and decisive player between the posts.

The regional Serie B championship will in fact resume from July 12 to 14 in San Vito Lo Capo. The third and final stage will then take place in Marina di Modica, from July 26 to 28. The title will be awarded in Marina di Ragusa, from August 9 to 11, 2024.
