It’s Vasco Rossi’s day in Bari. The Komandante, “on the road” for forty-five years, returns to Puglia with his announced “colossal” of music made up of thirty songs (including the medley) that span an entire career, launched from a 90 meter stage, a cathedral of lights, giant screens and psychedelic devilry. He will be hosting the first of four sold-out dates tonight (with tomorrow, June 29th and 30th) at the “San Nicola” stadium.
The month of June is traditionally the “Vasco Rossi Time” for his fans, the time of year most awaited by his people and, above all, by himself, who loves to face contemporary society by going in the opposite direction with his songs. Surfing the waves of rock, the seventy-two-year-old artist from Emilia “crosses the emotions of oceanic crowds” as highlighted by the motivation that President Giordano Bruno Guerri read when awarding Vasco the XV Vittoriale Prize on April 17.
For days, his fans have been waiting for the rocker of Italian music under the tents crowded outside the “San Nicola” stadium. Many of them have been buying tickets for the “live” concert of the beloved artist from Zocca for months “and we have planned our holidays following the live itinerary of the singer of our dreams” they admit. It is a group of the 200 thousand spectators in total of the four times “sold out” concert at Renzo Piano’s “Astronave”. The four Bari stops close the record-breaking tour, characterized, among other things, by the seven sold outs at San Siro that gathered 400 thousand spectators.
Vasco Rossi has been attending the «San Nicola» since 1993 and with the upcoming four dates there will be 13 times in one of the largest Italian stadiums: in 1993, 1996, 1999, 2007, 2015 double date, 2018 double date, 2022 and 2024 with the date poker. He is very fond of Puglia, of which he is cultural ambassador, after the appointment of the former governor Niki Vendola: for more than 25 years he has been returning to his “buen retreat” in Castellaneta Marina (of which he is also an honorary citizen) which he loves and where , during rehearsals for the tour, he regenerates by running in the pine forest or on the beach. Supporters on tour will be the singer Raffaella Pierattoni, aka Raffi, a twenty-two-year-old born in Pesaro who has already opened concerts on the 2022 and 2023 tour with her band Xxenergy; and Denise Faro, a Roman who lives in Los Angeles where Vasco met her and this year, on the occasion of Women’s Day, he gave her the song «Libera e se mi va». Denise has already opened for Rossi at San Siro in 2019, this year he performs with an all-female band.
And for those who were unable to secure a ticket for one of the eleven concerts in 2024, Vasco has already announced next year’s dates. The 2025 tour will start from the Olimpico in Turin on 31 May and 1 June, and then continue with this agenda: 5 and 6 June «Visarno Arena» in Florence, 11 and 12 June «Dall’Ara» stadium in Bologna, 16 and June 17th at the «Diego Armando Maradona» in Naples, the 21st and 22nd at the «San Filippo» stadium in Messina and closing with a bang on the 27th and 28th June at the «Olimpico» in Rome. There is no Bari this time. But on these four dates of the 2024 tour, the Adriatic city will satiate itself with the bullet songs of the «Komandante». With the Che Guevara hat, the voice of the “wolf” of rock, leads the “Blasco” Band from the first note, and then closes after a 45-year songwriting history with a new “Albachiara”. Because Vasco’s is a never-ending plot.
