An 85-year-old man died in the Parma area, after the flooding of the Termina torrent. His body was recovered by the firefighters around 8pm at Lido Valtermina, in the municipality of Traversetolo. It is the tragic consequence of the wave of bad weather that hit the summer that had just begun, causing damage in Emilia, with some streams and canals overflowing and rivers suddenly in flood that descend from the Apennines to the plain between Modena and Piacenza, on red alert, causing concern for a night and a day those who live near water and forcing the expansion tanks to open.

Dozens of roads blocked by landslides and mudslides in the hills and mountains, flooding in the lower floors of houses, small bridges collapsed and some families evacuated and rescued by firefighters with dinghies, in particular in Langhirano and Mulazzano (Parma), where several homes were invaded by water and in Campogalliano (Modena), after yesterday Pavullo, still on the Modena Apennines, lived an afternoon with a good part of the center underwater. Tuscany was also affected by the wave of bad weather northern with Pistoia, which experienced a night of anxiety with around seventy interventions by the firefighters due to water that ended up in the streets and underpasses.

And the Polesine with Rovigo, where the first day of the new mayor Valeria Cittadin was characterized by a visit to the places hit by a storm and a whirlwind, in particular in the Aliper shopping center, where there was damage inside and outside is an uncovered shop. In Emilia the floods exceeded threshold 3 on the Arda (which reached the overflow at the Mignano dam, in the Piacenza area), on Samoggia, Tiepido, Secchia and Enza.

All the cash registers in Secchia, Panaro, Enza, Crostolo and Parma have become operational. Crostolo and Enza flooded in some sections in the afternoon. The rain reached peaks of 190 millimeters on the Secchia and on the mountains and hills of the provinces of Parma, Reggio and Modena, a historic maximum of 112 millimeters was reached. In Prignano sulla Secchia, in the Modena area, a bridge over the Rossenna torrent collapsed, swept away by the flood. A Beagle dog farm isolated, as documented by the owner Alberto Calbucci.

Also in the Bolognese area some people were evacuated to the Apennines, between Vergato and Castel d’Aiano. In the valley of the Sporzana stream, the water damaged the main methane pipeline in Sivizzano, a hamlet of Fornovo di Taro (Parma), leaving the entire area without power. And in Parma in the afternoon she was the vice president of the Region for a point in the prefecture with civil protection. The alert triggered in Stromboli, in the Aeolian Islands, is of a different type: from yellow to code orange for the volcano, after the assessments that emerged during a meeting of the competent bodies.

«I have already had the declaration prepared for the regional state of emergency, following the bad weather that is hitting the Veneto in these days and the resulting damage. They range from the storm on the Asiago Plateau last Sunday to the disturbance that today hit Rovigo and the southern areas of Veneto, causing many critical situations as well as significant damage”, declared the President of the Region, Luca Zaia. «I remind all citizens and businesses affected – adds Zaia – to collect the documentary materials that will be useful for the purposes of recognizing the damage and the consequent recognition of any compensation», he concludes.
