In today’s session, the regional council launched a one-off contribution of three thousand euros to workers of companies in crisis who, despite not being at the center of dismissal procedures, have not received a salary for at least six months.

It is the “Active support for work path”, announced a few days ago by president Eugenio Giani. The measure was studied by the Region “to alleviate a profound discomfort that can be experienced by workers and their families”, declares Giani, who recalls that the first concrete case of application will concern the 142 workers of the former Gkn of Campi Bisenzio, “a of the most significant and dramatic corporate crisis events that have affected the Tuscan territory for many months”, whose employees have not seen their remuneration paid by the owner, Qf, for over six months. “We hope – concludes the president – that the company that owns the site will be placed under administration as soon as possible”.
To finance this intervention, the council has allocated the first 420 thousand euros drawing from regional resources intended for training and active employment policies. The contribution will be paid in July.

The councilor for professional training and employment, Alessandra Nardini, also expresses satisfaction regarding the approval of the measure, underlining how the “Tuscany Region stands by workers in difficulty”. “With this tool – continues the councilor – we are concretely intervening in a delicate and complicated situation, and in the meantime we will continue to work so that the dispute is resolved and a new industrial future can be given to that site and a new perspective to the workers.”
