Beach Soccer, Viareggio stops in Messina for the Italian Cup

There Farmaè Viareggio heads to Messinawhere the Italian beach soccer cupthird competition of the season after the Italian Super Cup and the Euro Winners Cup.

The Bianconeri, who have won this trophy twice (2012 and 2016), will make their debut in the round of 16 against Sicily on Thursday at 6.30pm at the Domusbet.tv Arena Beach Stadium in Torre Faro. If successful, on Friday in the quarterfinals they will face one between Friuli Venezia Giulia (already beaten 14-6 in the championship) and Icierre Lamezia with the prospect of finding one between Pisa and Catania Fc in the semi-finals.

“We arrive at this event with a bit of disappointment for the results obtained so far (defeat in the Super Cup, elimination in the round of 16 in the Euro Winners Cup) but also with a great desire for redemption. We will test ourselves in a different competition, this must give us further stimuli and push us to raise the level: this does not necessarily mean winning the cup, but rather expressing the best version of ourselves. The point of comparison is the second part of last season, when we reached the top. We are working hard to get back to those levels. In beach soccer, judgments change very quickly: it will be essential to start well and not underestimate any opponent, it would be the most serious mistake”, states the Farmaè Viareggio coach, Francesco Corosiniti.

Compared to the Euro Winners Cup, Matteo Ghilarducci, Léo Martins and Giacomo Petracci will be part of the group, fully recovered after an injury (“He is a good boy, as well as a top-level player: he will give us an extra solution going forward”, explains Corosiniti ). However, goalkeeper Matteo Manfredi remains out. This is the list of players called up: Carpita, Gianni Santini (goalkeepers), Rombi, Bertacca, Genovali, Ozu, Petracci, Zè Lucas, Remedi, Ghilarducci, Léo Martins, Gori and Fazzini.

After the Italian Cup, Farmaè Viareggio will focus on the championship, which will see it involved in the second and third round of the Scudetto championship, scheduled in Cirò Marina (Crotone) from 11 to 14 July and Lignano Sabbiadoro (Udine) the weekend end next. The top 7 classified will qualify for the Final Eight (in which the winner of the Promotion poule will also take part) in San Benedetto del Tronto (from 2 to 4 August).
