Calabria, with the CarMa company, gets on the podium of the FITA Theater Grand Prix

The Grand Theater Prize organized by the Theater ended last Saturday with the final evening dedicated to the awards FITA, Italian Federation of Amateur Theatre. The event took place in the theater “Cavallino Bianco” from Galatina di Lecce, saw the participation of all the representatives of the best amateur theater companies each from the 14 participating regions. On the stage of the Apulian theater, last March 2nd, the Reggio Calabria company CarMa performed with the show “TENTH – Like acanthus leaves”a one-act play by Michele Carilli, already winner of the “Bronzi di Riace” award from FITA (Calabria section) as the best Calabrian show of 2023.

In Apulia the Reggio company was awarded the “Popular Jury Award” assigned by a jury made up of 100 spectators who attended all the shows on the bill and who expressed their preference for the show staged by the Calabrian team. The satisfaction expressed by the members of the company is great, knowing that having had the approval of the public is the maximum an artist can aspire to, the satisfaction increases when the prize is achieved in the most important event of the Italian Federation of Amateur Theatre.

The show on the evening of the performance strongly involved the audience from an emotional point of view who had already expressed his approval with great applause on stage. “DECIMO” is a theatrical show which, through the alternation of roles played (by the actors Lorenzo Pratico’, Gabriele Profazio, Carlo Colico and Damiano Puntillo) and songs, played and sung live (by the masters Mario Lo Cascio and Francesco Alati and by the singer Marinella Rodà) narrates the story of a soldier of the First World War, belonging to the Catanzaro Brigade, who died by firing squad following the decimation suffered by the soldiers of the Brigade, who rebelled due to a rest denied after months of uninterrupted stay in the trenches.

The “Great War” dramatically marked history, the culture and politics of our country, causing a frightening number of victims including dead, injured, maimed and prisoners. The intent of the show put on by CarMa is to create the foundations of a more solid critical conscience that condemns, without ifs or buts, not only the horror of that war, but also of all other wars, even more so those which unfortunately are still being fought today, this it is the most important message that they intend to carry forward with future performances.
