Carpi lapped, Campogalliano underwater, Soliera holds her breath Current affairs

The weather warning that hit Emilia Romagna and the Province of Modena also affected Carpi and the Terre d’Argine. While there have been no particular inconveniences in the municipality of Carpi other than those linked to traffic (the Romana Sud main road towards Modena has been practically blocked since this morning due to the closure of the bridges over the Secchia in Soliera, in the first photo the Uccellino bridge, and Modena in Ponte Alto), things went much worse in Campogalliano (in the second photo)where five people were rescued from cars stuck in the car and caught in the rain and some families were evacuated by the Fire Brigade with the help of the dinghy (in the video below) due to the rains which brought the floodplain areas of the Secchia under water. One in via Bosco, with mum, dad, small child and dogs, another in via Madonna, where a fifty-year-old had to leave his home with the civil protection vehicle.

A real emergency caused by the extraordinary rains that since yesterday in the late afternoon have hit first the Apennines – flooding Pavullo – and then the plain. The rivers swelled, with the Secchia reaching the threshold of 3, exceeding 11 meters in Ponte Alto (yesterday afternoon it was at 1.5), where the water escaped in some places.

Due to the passage of the flood in Soliera – where the Ponte dell’Uccellino has been closed since early this morning – the Municipality has advised people to avoid traveling by car and residents near the river bank to move to the upper floors.

The Red alert for hydraulic criticality issued by the Regional Agency for Territorial Security and Civil Protection has been in force since 12pm today, while the Yellow alert for thunderstorms continues.
