“Wake up!”: four evenings at the Accademia dei Fisiocritici

On the program of this fourth edition of the festival from 8 to 31 July 4 events ranging from musicals to chamber music, from film soundtracks to Sienese folk songs

SIENA. Come back”Wake up!“, the summer event of the Accademia dei Fisiocritici which, as its subtitle explains, organizes “artistic evenings around the well … of science”, the sixteenth-century well in the center of its courtyard where Nereus dominates, the skeleton of the fin whale which celebrates this It is the fiftieth anniversary of its stranding. On the program of this fourth edition four evenings from 8 to 31 July ranging from musicals to chamber music, from film soundtracks to Sienese folk songs. A variety of proposals for everyone to experience emotions in a particular atmosphere framed by the Natural History Museum of Siena between history, culture and science.

The formula of pairing with a convivial moment is maintained: at 9.00 pm a FisioDrink and at 9.30 pm the show. 15 euro single ticket, 50 euro subscription to all evenings. Calendar, description of shows and reservations on Eventi.fisiocritici.it. In case of bad weather the shows will take place in the main hall. Participants will also be able, with the same ticket, to visit the Museum and the “Wings of Purple” exhibition which displays magnificent photos of flamingos from the Orbetello lagoon.

The exhibition opens onJuly 8 with “Journey into the musical with Le Dive”, a show created by the singer, dancer and choreographer Alice Valentini with the actress Chiara Savoi and the group Le Dive: together they will revive many numbers from cult musicals such as West Side Story, Cabaret, New York New York, Mamma Mia and many others, making the audience participate both in anecdotes and curiosities and in the frenzy of the backstage through the numerous costume changes on stage.

Second appointment on July 17 with the “Franci Chamber Ensemble”, a group of eight strings and a clarinet, including students and a teacher, from the Rinaldo Franci Conservatory of Siena who will perform two classic masterpieces by Mozart and Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and a modern klezmer piece by Béla Kovács .

The July 25th “Perfect Weddings: music & cinema, composers” & directors, an unpublished show written and directed by Massimo Biliorsi with the interventions of the actresses Rita Ceccarelli and Lucia Donati: almost eighty years of cinema history in the great partnerships with the world of soundtracks , told in a journey of images and notes, certainly evocative for all generations thanks to the scores and trailers of films by greats such as Morricone, Rota, Tiomkin, Jarre, Trovajoli, Steiner, David Bowie, Leone, Fellini, Hawks, Hichcock , De Sica, Argento, Pollack and many others.

The review closes July 31st La Serpe d’Oro with “Beautiful, marvelous my city: Sienese folk songs and stornelli”, a title already evocative in itself of the repertoire presented by the band born in Siena in 2014, specialized in the Tuscan repertoire in general which is now deepening the very rich material linked to the songs of Siena, from “Senesina” to “Se sleep wake up”, from “Tirati in la m’arruffi” to “Giovanottino mi picete tanto”: a musical contribution that has been missing for a long time.
