VITTORIO VENETO – White shirt, jeans and large floral bouquet. In the next few hours, after the signing of the settlement decree, Mirella Balliana she will officially become the new mayor of Vittorio Veneto, but yesterday afternoon she already presented herself to the voters from the external steps of the town hall. Emotions dignifiedly contained, look impeccable, the new mayor thanked those who trusted her, and those who helped her with enthusiasm and tenacity to achieve victory in the runoff. “The target? she added – Bring the citizens back into the city hall.”
After the voters’ embrace and the celebrations – which she generally declines, she admitted – she returned home: from 86 year old mother Vittoria and her partner Sandrino. A few hours to rest and a phone call at dawn. Our. The electoral campaign of Balliana and the coalition that supported her had in fact highlighted programs and initiatives for the city, leaving the candidate’s personality in the shadows. And leaving us with the curiosity to know something more about her than her private life. In a cappuccino-flavoured chat/interview, Mirella spoke about her childhood with an open heart, she spoke about her extended family, her footballer father (captain of Vittorio, as Ido Da Ros could confirm), about growing up with a suitcase in hand (and a bit of nostalgia in the heart) and of being a woman at the service of politics.
The intriguing statement? It did not concern the council (the only name established for now is that of Giulio De Antoni, but Balliana seems to have to guarantee two places on the Pd list), but rather the name of the other women who according to the new mayor have made the history of the city and would have deserved the position before her in the past.
