The first edition of the artistic-creative project “EmozionArte” activated by the APS “Io

The various forms of youth hardship deserve the full attention of educational agencies, and we must deal with the Educational Poverty that spreads, creating models and concepts of cultural involution in adolescents which, if not corrected, oriented and accompanied, generate serious problems.

To counter these phenomena, it is essential to equip children with emotional intelligence, social and emotional skills, and to cultivate the skills of the heart with great commitment.

From mentoring to psychological support, from skills enhancement, from school orientation and re-orientation to professional training and finally to working life.

A constant, non-invasive, non-binding, non-conditioning but engaging and exciting accompaniment that must have a particular impact on all those transversal skills and abilities that must bring out intelligence, desires and talents.

Starting from the recognition and management of one’s emotions was the objective of the “EmozionArte” project, co-programmed and co-designed with the “Don Milani” operators, with the families and with the children in their care, strongly desired by the president Giuseppe Schipani, was activated in the school year. underway at. Here the operators were able to record on a daily basis, on the part of the children, general communication and acceptance problems linked to their phase of evolution and growth as well as difficulties in accepting themselves both as such and as protagonists of a group. The activities, provided free of charge for users, were aimed at helping children and adolescents, in this delicate phase of their emotional and social growth, to listen to themselves, to let their thoughts and emotions emerge, to give them a name by elaborating and communicating them through different artistic and creative forms (drawing, painting, play, dance, poetry, etc…), to give vent to their expressiveness by relating correctly to others by welcoming a thought divergent from their own.

Starting from the expression of one’s tastes and passions, through materials and activities such as texts, readings, iconographic and sound material, story telling exercises, Propp cards, Rorschach blots, Caviardage method, individual and group manual work, it was possible , for the young protagonists, touching and recognizing their emotions, stimulating creativity, the ability to listen and observe, training empathy, learning while having fun, developing creative thinking and cooperation, exercising the ability to express themselves through different languages, learning cooperation by teaching discussion and dialogue.

The activities, carried out on a weekly basis, to be replicated in the future as, involved, as tutors, the doctors Francesca D’Onofrio, Michela Doto, Manuela Genovesi, Margherita Iacovella, Valentina Ingarao and Emanuela Scala supported by Sara Autorino (psychologist ) and Bruna Gallo (sociologist). Coordinator of the initiative is Professor Nadia De Cristofaro.
