Gioia Tauro, Occhipinti’s satisfaction: “Great victory for Scarcella with the fundamental contribution of the UDC which continues to grow exponentially”

“I express great satisfaction, on behalf of the entire UDC of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria, for the victory obtained by Simona Scarcella in the run-off round in Gioia Tauro. A result that marks a turning point for the future of the important municipality of the province of Reggio which will be increasingly central in the development process of the entire area”.

This was stated in a press note by UDC metropolitan commissioner Riccardo Occhipinti, who also underlines the role played by the UDC list in arriving at the final result.

“The UDC was the deciding factor for the final outcome of the electoral consultation in favor of the centre-right – says Occhipinti again – which with its list was the second party in the coalition, electing two city councilors: Cristian Guerrisi and Mariangela Giovinazzo. This is a huge affirmation that demonstrates the quality of the work carried out so far in the area and a political project that is finding more and more support and consensus. Particular thanks go to city commissioner Angelo Guerrisi for the work carried out which allowed us to build a strong list, with authoritative and competent candidates (I thank them one by one), who pushed Scarcella towards the final victory. The moderates are the majority of Calabrian voters and they need to have solid points of reference and the UDC is proving to be more and more so thanks to the teamwork which has allowed, over the past few months, to root the party in the territory and to obtain ever greater consensus and registrations. A work carried out in full synergy with all levels of the party and with the national secretary Cesa who continues to have particular attention for Calabria”.

“With the same commitment made up to now we will now make ourselves available to the newly elected mayor Scarcella who will be able to identify a government team capable of making the objectives of our program concrete and achieving concrete development for Gioia Tauro which will have to be central to the whole of Calabria and the Mediterranean thanks to its port, but without forgetting its tourist vocation which we must know how to enhance. As UDC we will continue tirelessly in the work of establishing roots in the territory which, as we have seen first-hand, is the only one that pays in terms of consensus and which really allows us to re-establish relationships with the base and citizens who need good politics and points of reference and places of comparison”, concludes Occhipinti.
