“I offer my most sincere wishes for the new mayor’s success in his work”

Manfredonia finally has a new Mayor to whom I offer my most sincere wishes for good work and fruitful commitment to defending the rights of our city. This, unfortunately, is the only good news that can give us relief and hope. Decidedly negative, however, is the circumstance of having taken note of the sad record achieved in this last electoral appointment of the minimum turnout of our fellow citizens.

Seeing that only one voter in three went to the polls was truly embarrassing. The latter is a disturbing finding of disinterest in the fate of our community and resignation to the feeling of impotence in being able to contribute to the determination of important decisions in our city.

Just as I find myself taking note of the consequences, certainly deleterious, of the political choices made in recent times which have led to the merciless results resulting from the latest electoral consultations.

In the Siponto centre-right area there was a clear haemorrhage of consensus which led to the drastic reduction of representation in the municipal council (from 15 seats to 3 seats). Add to this the fact that the isolationism proudly claimed in the electoral stands after the vote appears to have been an absolutely unsuccessful, if not completely suicidal, choice. The example of the municipal electoral consultations of San Severo they provide a clear example of a logical political strategy, contrary to what occurred in Manfredonia.

It appears clear and clear that the divisive logic implemented as a consequence of mere personal resentments has sanctioned the estrangement and distrust of a center-right electorate well present in our territory, as appropriately found by the result of the European electoral consultations. These objective considerations lead to the only and useful remedy for reviving the merciless picture described so far, that of a radical and profound renewal. Those who have failed must simply recognize their mistakes and have the good sense to step aside in order to finally be able to give the opportunity for an authentic and effective recovery of the Siponto centre-right.

Otherwise, in the Manfredonian context, we will be forced to coin a new saying: “a team that loses, or rather collapses, cannot be changed”. Anyone who truly loves our city can only wish it the best. For this reason I reiterate my most vivid hope that Domenico La Marca will leave as soon as possible with his team to worthily face the important challenges that await Manfredonia and that he will be able to overcome them easily.
