On the anniversary of San Giovanni visiting the underground church

From Matera to Pulsano (Foggia) on the road to the sanctuary of Picciano with devotion to Saint John of Matera who, in his intense apostolic life, traced a path of faith between rock sites and underground environments. And so on Sunday 23 June eleven “devotees” (just like the national football team) of the Association that bears the name of the Saint of Matera went to Masseria del Monte to visit an underground church.

For many, led by Paolo Lamacchia one of the owners of the Masseria, and accompanied by the president Emanuele D’Adamo and the secretary Nunzio Maria Paolicelli, it was a pleasant discovery in the silence of places reached after an evocative journey. The Masseria is also beautiful, located along the left bank of the Picciano ravine. It was owned by the Malvezzi dukes of Matera and was built in 1767, with an extension in 1861. A piece of history of the culture and territory of Matera to be known and appreciated. And thank you, as the “devotees” of San Giovanni da Matera have remembered , to a visit organized for logistical aspects by the president of the “Divenire” Association of President Mimmo Agatiello.
