Patronal feast of the parish of Santa Maria Stella Maris 2024: from 19 to 23 June squares packed with faithful
In total, several thousand people took part in the four evenings and events of the celebrations in Fiumicino in honor of the Madonna Stella Maris, protector of the Lido del Faro and of the fishermen, which had its highlight yesterday in the traditional and evocative Procession, which sinks its roots since the 1950s.
Inauguration on 19 June with outdoor Mass and evening torchlight procession, in the presence of, among others, the Councilor for the Environment, Stefano CostaAMP.
The first exploit on 20 June, surprising Fr. Sergio De Angelis themselves – parish priest for two years at Stella Maris – and the celebration committee, who perhaps did not expect so much participation, was represented by the many who crowded the square in front of the parish.
The big screen was set up there to watch the Italy-Spain match, in the setting of a stretch of Via Giorgio Giorgis transformed into “Street food”, the prize fishing, the rides and the market.
Due to the difficult river weather conditions it was not possible to embark the Sacred Image on the CP 836 patrol boat of the Captaincy.
It was thus possible to bless the port, the city, the faithful and the fishermen, with the throwing of a laurel wreath.
