A civil protection exercise will take place tomorrow and the day after tomorrow in the Campi Flegrei area, to verify the operational procedures defined by the emergency dispatch plan for the area affected by bradyseism. The exercise – organized by the Department of Civil Protection, in agreement with the Campania Region, with the involvement of the Metropolitan City and the Prefecture-UGT of Naples, the municipalities involved, the ASL Napoli 1 and the operational civil protection structures – will concern, in particular, the municipalities of Pozzuoli and Bacoli and the neighborhoods of the city of Naples involved and will allow the functionality of some of the waiting areas and the related organization and supervision envisaged in the municipal planning to be tested and verified, with tests of the procedures for evacuation of a part of the resident population.

In particular, the procedures for registering and assigning accommodation to those who hypothetically cannot return to their homes will be analysed, as will the system for registering immediate needs for vulnerable people.

It starts tomorrow afternoon with the communication of the start of the swarm by the INGV Vesuvian Observatory and the activation of the civil protection operational functions at the SORU (Unified Regional Operations Room) at the Naples Management Centre. On the morning of the 26th, at 10 am, in the municipalities of Pozzuoli, Bacoli and Naples, evacuation simulations will be carried out with citizens who, through the platforms of the local administrations, have participated in the exercise.

In Pozzuoli two waiting areas will be set up in Via Napoli and Largo del Ricordi. From here a shuttle will take people to Palatrincone for the census simulation.

Please note that the Municipal Operations Center has already been established in the Municipality of Pozzuoli from which the municipal administration is involved in managing activities related to the bradyseismic crisis and the damage caused by the earthquake of May 20th. In Bacoli the waiting areas have been identified in via del Mercato (via Miseno) and in piazza Rossini al Fusaro. From here the citizens will be accompanied to the hub set up in the gym of the Antonio Gramsci middle school.

In Naples, citizens participating in the exercise will be taken from the waiting areas via liberation/via Sibilla to the hub set up at the municipality in via Acate in Bagnoli.

In advance, tomorrow afternoon, the ASL Napoli 1 Centro will set up First Aid Points and health reception points both in the waiting area and in the reception area. Also on the morning of the 26th, the ASL Napoli 1 Centro will carry out evacuation tests at the RSA Posillipo (so-called Colonia Geremicca) in via Padula with the involvement of healthcare workers.

Among other activities, in addition to evacuation simulations and the activation and organization of waiting areas and hubs for the reception of the population in the three municipalities involved, the setting up of a base camp for the mobile columns of the National Corps is envisaged of the Fire Brigade, in Afragola and safety activities for archaeological and cultural assets, in particular at Castello di Baia.

Information points aimed at the population and the activation of volunteers to support the coordination centers, telecommunications, information and assistance to the population are envisaged, as well as further tests of the damage census procedures, with particular reference to the methods for the IT sharing of results. The convening of the Civil Protection Operational Committee in Rome was also arranged, as well as the activation of the rooms and coordination centers at the various levels.
