Officina Monviso returns between the valleys of Cuneo and Turin

It reaches its eleventh edition Monviso workshop, the program of accompanied excursions aimed at groups of users of social-welfare and health services, day centers and communities in the Cuneo and Turin area, organized with the aim of making the mountains increasingly inclusive and therapeutic. This year’s program is divided into five daily excursions in July and one two-day excursion with overnight stay in refuge in September and is dedicated in particular to young adolescents and their relationship with the mountain environment, to commemorate the 160th anniversary of the first female ascent of Monviso by Alessandra Boarelli whose group included the very young Cecilia Fillia from Sanfront , to which we want to dedicate this anniversary. We start with two excursions in the province of Cuneo: Wednesday 3 July from Maira valley, the excursion to the ANPI “Carlo Fissore” refuge in Sant’Anna di Roccabruna is scheduled; the second stage is Thursday 11 July in Frassino in Varaita valley on the ring of San Maurizio: on this occasion musical entertainment will be provided by Occit’amo festival. Next, Officina Monviso moves to Metropolitan City of Turin: Wednesday 17 July the appointment is on Chisone valley with a visit to the Fort and the “Carlo Alberto” forestry nursery in Fenestrelle; Wednesday 24th we reach Prà del Torno in Angrogna Valley for the excursion to the Saben and Chiot villages. The July excursion program ends with a walk to discover the ancient mule tracks of Crissolo in Po valley, scheduled for Wednesday 31 July. In September the traditional two-day excursion with overnight stay at the Jervis refuge in Conca del Prà returns, in Pellice valley. Like every year, hundreds of people are involved in these initiatives: all participants will receive a free neck warmer, the official gadget of the initiative whose creation is made possible by the support of the Cassa di Risparmio di Saluzzo Foundation. The scheduled activities are organized directly by day centres, communities and local entities in the fields of disability, psychiatry and services for minors who independently organize excursions in their territory which are then put online and shared. This helps to activate a cooperative mode that promotes interpersonal growth and of the movement itself: an objective also well summarized by the motto of Officina Monviso, which is “To learn to walk together and enjoy beauty”. Various bodies participate in the coordination of the activities, such as the Montagnaterapia Piemonte network, the Monviso Solidale Consortium, the Monviso Park, the Terres Monviso Occit’amo music festival, the local administrations and associations, the CAI, the Rescue delegations Alpino and many other realities of the valleys involved, including and above all numerous people who have given their availability to organize and participate on a voluntary basis. The purpose of the review is experience the mountains as a therapeutic tool, educational and cultural, making excursions an experience that allows you to socialize, get to know the area, challenge yourself and stimulate your emotional world. It is also a way to encourage encounters between social realities and the territory, discovering new places and opportunities that the services can cultivate on other occasions, even individually. The idea behind Officina Monviso is that the beauty of the mountains is a resource available to all and a source of well-being, therefore in line and in full continuity with the path of the Regional Mountain Ethical Charter published in 2019.
