Palermo, Vito Riggio resigns as CEO of Gesap

The decision was formalized this morning during the meeting of the company’s Board of Directors. “My assignment could not continue indefinitely,” Riggio pointed out. Now we are waiting for a signal from the members and from mayor Roberto Lagalla. Meanwhile, a meeting of the Board of Directors has already been reconvened for Friday to temporarily assign to the general director the signing powers for ordinary administration, previously held by the CEO.

This morning it was the position of general director was conferred on Massimo Abbatewhich replaces Christmas Chieppa, recently retired. Abbate, with over 15 years of experience in the administration and finance sector and 37 years in Gesap, will take on the role on an interim basis pending selection for the new general manager. “In this transition phase – he declared Salvatore Burrafato, president of Gesap – a strong name was needed to give continuity to a fundamental role for the airport’s activity. Abbate’s appointment was accepted by the board unanimously, given that the manager has an important thirty-year history behind him within the company”.
