The memorandum of understanding between the Cyber Security Operations Center (COSC) of the Postal Police of Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta and ANCI Piedmont was signed at the Turin Police Headquarters.
Present at the event were the police commissioner of Turin, Vincenzo Ciarambino, the director of COSC Piedmont and Valle D’Aosta, Manuela De Giorgi and the president of ANCI Piedmont, Andrea Corsaro.
The agreement, an integral part of the broader ‘pro-c2si project’ aimed at guaranteeing the cyber-security of Italian municipalities, follows the agreement stipulated in July 2023 by the Chief of Police-general director of Public Security and the president of the national ANCI and is aimed at sharing and analyzing information useful for preventing and countering attacks or damage to the IT infrastructures of local authorities.
The partnership put in place will make it possible to raise cyber security standards thanks to the exchange of information between the signatory bodies and the implementation of effective intervention procedures in the event of a cyber attack. By operating in this way, it will be possible to achieve the objective of the project, the prevention of undue theft of data as well as any further illicit activity with particular attention to guaranteeing continuity in public utility services. The joint training activity on systems and technologies suitable for combating cyber crimes will be fundamental in order to create structured know-how updated on the most recent threats.

Actively engaging in the prevention and combating of attacks or damage to IT infrastructures belonging to local authorities, in order to guarantee the safety and freedom of citizens, represents one of the missions that has always been pursued and protected, in its most various facets, by the Police of State.”
“The Piedmontese administrative fabric – declared the president of ANCI Piemonte, Andrea Corsaro – is particularly fragmented and non-homogeneous and, for this same reason, very exposed to security risks of personal data held by local authorities. This is information relevant to the freedom of individuals and to the serene and peaceful coexistence of our communities. We therefore place a lot of faith in the fact that, thanks to this protocol, information and prevention actions can be intensified, especially towards municipalities that have less than others the resources and skills to independently raise the level of guard against cyber threats. ”.
“In a world where the pervasiveness of the cyber threat can represent an obstacle to the peaceful conduct of associated life – said finally the COSC manager of the Postal Police, Manuela De Giorgi – the synergy between all the operators of the system stands as a barrier against an increasingly organized and dangerous cybercrime. The continuous information exchanges on new threats, as well as the training meetings aimed at managers and staff of local administrations will increase antibodies against a new, increasingly insidious form of crime”.
